Essay 1.2
There are a lot of countries all over the world and they each have their own cultural patterns. Cultural patterns usually come from their histories and customs. Since they all have different histories and custom, it is natural to have different cultural patterns from other countries. My country, Korea, also has unique cultural patterns whatWChoice foreign visitors should be aware of in order to adjust more easily and avoid intercultural conflicts and misunderstanding. {***}ChoppyIn paragraph of "Time talks, with an accent" tells us about a person who went to Brazil. And he did not know about Brazil concept of time.{***}Choppy Among them, most important cultural pattern that foreign visitor has to know are way to bow and concepts of time.
Firstly, bowWForm is very important thingVague in the Korean society. When American people meet someone on their way to go, they wave their hand or just say "how are you?" whatever how old he/she is. However, you could be rude personAwkward if you wave your hand to someone who is older than you. Bowing is very polite act to people that you meet first time or person that you respect to; also it is very normal act in Korea, however, Bowing shows that people respect each other. The original bowing is different form people are doing in today. The original bowing is from old Korea history. The original bowing needs to use all body, and when New Year day is coming, Korean people usually do that for parents and grandparents. First of all, you should lay down your legs and then bend from head to the waist. People are doing bowAwkward in today, is kind new bowing style, which is without bend waist. A lot of western cultures they do not have bowing culture they say "how are you" instead of bowing or they shake their hands. Foreign visitor should notice that is, in Korea, people do not shake their hands instead of say "hallo". Especially, to someone who are older then you. It is very important thing that visitor should know about.
Secondly, Koreans society has very unique concepts of time. Korean people usually come earlier than time which they promised to meet. Because they think making someone to wait is impolite and also they think that time is important which is related to the paragraph American Values and Assumption in page 10, said "for American time is a resource that, like water or coal be used well or poorly "time is money". Korean people also think that time is money, and they are very punctual. Usually Korean people come little early before appointment time. The reason why is, because they think that come late is not polite. Also it is their life style. In the Korean people life style, people could assume that Korean people like rush, fast. For example, a person who go to restaurant and order a food, it will come out very fast. It does not mean that meal is not good, or easy to make. It just Korean people like rush. Also Korean people like very on time or come little earlyAwkward. In the paragraph ofCut Time Talks, with an Accent said "the appointe was 11:30, but the adviser called him at 12:20" in this sentence, that mean the adviser did not punctual. This cause will not happen in Korea. If people someone lateAwkward, it would be very displeasure. That is why Korea people like punctual on the time. New York City people just like Korean people. I hardSpl that, New York City people are always rushing when they are doing business. Foreign visitor should aware about the concept of time in Korea and it will help them what is Korean people life style.
In the conclusion, visiting a new country is a always interesting thing to do. However, visitor should be aware some of culture different and culture's pattern. Bowing and concept of time is foreign visitor should notice. It can be a good experience to learn another country's culture. But before visiting, foreign visitor should know little information about it because every country has different culture.
