From partSpl to present, people had studied, debated and investigated betweenPreposition all different cultures in this wouldSpl; there are drastic differences in values, point of views, as well as outlook, and so forth. People in general believe that different languages, education and history will affect the intercultural conflicts between people from different background, and is very hard to maintain a very good relationship due to the misunderstanding. Undoubtedly, different cultures seem like a gate which blocks the people to interact with each other. However, if people can tolerantWForm and understand each other, with respect; to accept the foreign culture and to understand each others' backgrounds without any discrimination, this world will be better place. People in different cultures can live together in perfect harmony; For example, Hong Kong is an excellent on-going phenomenon that is testimonial to the continued co-existence of eastern and western cultures. Locals, Britishs and people from mainland China can coexist in a small island, they even cooperate and successfully make the city becoming a world- known metropolitan. This shows that through the different people, they share their cultures and values which can let people progress and expand their horizons. Moreover, the relationship between China and America can present more obvious difference and more obstacles; in terms of their values, assumption and cultures could be totally contract???. Therefore, when I just arrived in America to study, life isVTense not easy. I haveVTense a lot of doubts and uncertainties. I have to figure out the codes of the new culture. As time passed by, I have already adapted livingVTense in this mixed culture. I discovered that between Chinese and Americans, they both have their good and bad aspects. In my opinion, if Chinese student or visitor decides to go to America, they have to really understand the values and habits of the Americans. The following are some of the examples about what I went through, observed and learned.

First of all, MostCapitalization ofCut the AmericanSing/Plu shows directness and assertiveness in daily life. They usually have strong and direct emotional response, they will tell people what they think and how they feel. However, the Chinese are usually more shy to tell people about their thoughts and opinions. They feel uncomfortable to let people know about their true feelings. They also think that people should be able to care {***}MissingWthe others' feeling, and use a more polite and softer speech to talk with people {***}MissingWcan avoid the argument. For example, if American wants something different from what is offered, they ask for it. But Chinese people usually respond with a "no" the first or even the second time they offered something, evenConj/Trans they really want it. Being courteous requires standing on ceremonyGoodWordChoice, and they don't want to bother others. It's a very common in the Chinese society.

Secondly, body language plays an important role in America. For all kinds of nonverbal communication canWChoice let people get closer and likableWChoice in America, especially for those foreign students {***}MissingWhave inadequacy of not knowing English fluently, it is useful to help foreign student to adapt the new lives and communicate with Americans. This is because American is really emphasisAwkward the social conversations include much eye contact, touching and smiling, typically while standing at a distance of about a foot. These elements can be show a person who's personal, confidence and behavior.Awkward American would use this standard to analyse how this person's feeling and what the person's behavior is. For example, when people always have a smiling face, people usually can make friends easily. People can experience our sincerity through our smiles and greetings. However, in the society of Chinese, hugging and kissing are likely to be uncommon in their social activity. Hence, the foreign visitors and foreign student should know how to use social conversation in order to show their kindness and enthusiasm.

Third, Americans show more individualism and independence. They believe that they can really control their future. They are more specific to plan things. Chinese people, however, believe that everything goes by nature. We can't change the rules and the natural theory. Chinese rather make short term plans. However, Americans always like to plan things ahead. They think they can control and dominate nature and the world around them. They are trained from very early in their lives to consider themselves as separate individuals who are responsible for their own situations in life and their own destinies.(ref.) Due to this strong individualism, they dare to accept the challenge and attempts. They desire to achieve success in future. Hence, the foreign student or visitor may misunderstand for those American are more self-centered and have strong ego personality .Actually, that's simply a problem of intercultural {***}MissingW. On the other hand, Americans show a lot of creativity and independence, which help them to stand out from the crowd by doing something the first, the longest, or the best. Examples are aviators Charles LindberghExplain and basketball player Michael JordonExplain. Thus it can beCut seem that AmericanSing/Plu is an outstanding individualist.

In conclusion, there are already many differences between American and Chinese cultures and values, and this kind of intercultural conflicts may make people having the feeling of confusion and anxiety. In order to overcome the shock of confronting a new culture, people should face unfamiliar cultural settings objectively and positively, try to appreciate other countries' cultures. Not only we can easily avoid the intercultural conflicts and misunderstanding, but also we can make ourselves more diverse and open-minded, broaden our horizons, and promote personal growth.

Your essay should incorporate at least 3 references to our readings.

Your topic sentences should ideally not only introduce what topic you'll be discussing in a given paragraph but also explain how the "controlling idea" of the thesis is being supported.

What are possible negative consequences if this cultural pattern is not followed?

One of your next challenges will be to edit your essay for accuracy in language, academic tone.

Congratulations, Kevin. You did exactly what I wanted. You more fully developed the topics of your first draft.

Did you get some outside help from friends or tutors? I'd be interested in knowing.
